We'll be next

The Hound notes that the Labour Party and its coalition ‘provincial champion’ mates NZ First said they were surprised at the reaction from the oil and gas industry at the Government’s sudden clampdown on all future offshore exploration in NZ.

The industry says it had no warning from the Government about the move. Not so, Ardern says. She claims the industry had been given “clear signs” in the Government’s stance prior to the election and her recent acceptance on the steps of Parliament of a Greenpeace petition banning oil exploration. The Hound reckons this does not bode well for the agriculture sector because prior to the election – and after – the new coalition government has given clear signals about how much it hates the farming, dairy production and irrigation sectors. Watch out, we’ll be next. Surprise, surprise.
