With the introduction of its VBP 7100 series baler-wrapper combinations, KUHN believes that the heavy-duty built machines will offer consistent high performance in all crop conditions.
The company says these balers deliver large, dense straw bales or wellshaped, short crop silage bales with higher moisture contents.
Noting that there is an increasing market of customers requiring a machine that can cope with a wide range of conditions, they say that the versatility of the VBP 7100 series is suitable for all operations.
The European harvesting specialists also believe the machine’s well-shaped and dense bales are a result of features that include the patented i-DENSE density regulation system for optimal bale start and baling pressure, which give the highest of densities in straw. Up front, the 23-knife intake system intake enables a wide range of cutting lengths, while the optional twinreel film binding system allows more efficiency in silage crops.
Several key features are said to ensure maximum capacity and large daily outputs. These include the 3-tine integral rotor and an especiallydesigned crop roller for unrestricted crop intake. The bale chamber uses a double tension arm for guaranteed bale start/formation, higher densities, and quick re-tensioning. Meanwhile, a fast tailgate and rapid bale transfer system ensure high productivity.
Despite its ability to produce high density bale packages, durability is also addressed with a heavy-duty bale chamber, rollers and driveline components. All are built within a heavy-duty machine frame and carried on and extra-large tandem axle assembly fitted with oversize tyre equipment.
The VBP 7100 series consists of the VBP 7160 that produces bales of 80 to 160 cm diameter bales, while the VBP 7190 delivers packages from for 80 to 185 cm diameter bales. Both models able to be equipped with the optional KUHN film binding system.

The Advanced Vehicle Suspension system, available on Optum 360, 390, and 440 models, responds to changing conditions, automatically adjusting how the suspension reacts to absorbs shocks and controlling vehicle movement.
In operation, sensors monitor the vibrations transmitted from the tractor chassis to the operator cabin, allowing the system to adjust suspension damping in real time. The control system incorporates key priorities, such as comfort at lower speeds and stability as speed increases, while also reacting to factors such as lower tyre pressures, where the tyres absorb more of the initial shock.
Case IH said as suspension requirements change throughout the working day, as tractors move between the paddock and road transport, the system manages suspension response in the background as tasks, speeds and conditions change, leaving the operator without the need to make manual adjustments.
Richard Hollins, Optum series tractors global product manager, said: “Pioneering technology must earn its place in the working day. Farmers and contractors will judge an investment by what it delivers, including manageable ownership costs, dependable up-time and the versatility to tackle different jobs. With AVS, we are putting intelligent control to work for comfort and stability, without giving the operator another setting to manage.”
Organised by FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation, the contest has been part of EIMA since 1986, with the Technical Evolution distinction awarded to products that introduce original improvements to solutions already manufactured or patented.
