OPINION: It's election time.
The general one in particular is attracting unbelievable promises that are too good to be true.
The spin doctors are on a roll, especially National's team at Fieldays with daily offerings of good news.
At the same time, Labour's presence at Mystery Creek was a mystery with claims their site was not used, although Labour says there were no plans to have a site and felt it was better and more cost effective to just walk and talk.
Being inconspicuous might not have been a bad thing given the mystery as to why Labour has their former Minister for Agriculture and Trade ranked well down the party list and below new candidates with no parliamentary experience.
Putting diversity ahead of experience, perhaps, but not too many in the rural community will be buying that.
