False claim?

Another dairy company, with partial Chinese ownership, is under fire for claiming the Government’s wage subsidy during COVID-19.

Mataura is backed by Chinese state-owned enterprise China Animal Husbandry Group, New Zealand company Bodco and local and farmer shareholders.

Mataura has also ruffled Fonterra’s feathers: it claimed $616,000 for 88 employees choosing not to process Fonterra milk.

The reason; it claims Fonterra has lower safety controls. The co-op isn’t impressed.
