Groundswell gets attention

Written by  Milking It

Members of the Climate Change Commission will meet leaders of Groundswell, in a sign that the Government might finally be realising the lobby group's influence.

Commission members will travel to the South Island to meet with Laurie Paterson and Bryce McKenzie.

The Groundswell leaders will get their chance to air their grievances on the Government's draft agricultural emissions pricing proposal and He Waka Eke Noa, which will tax farmers for the emissions created on their farms.

Groundswell recently presented a petition opposing a tax on food production, with 106,000 signatures to Labour Ministers. The Prime Minister has refused to meet the group.
