Continued fluctuations in fuel costs are putting pressure on many businesses, driving a significant spike in interest for electrified options like hybrids and alternative power sources.
In face, no sooner had construction company Calder Stewart handed over the keys to the new Christchurch building, J Swaps were breaking ground for a new store in Southland.
Christchurch Facility Increases Capacity by More Than 50%
The store in Christchurch is adjacent to J Swap's existing store in Templeton, increasing their floorspace by over 50% to 20,000 square metres.
Big as it is, the store only occupies half the site, leaving plenty of room for future expansion.
The new 'shed' will mean a wider range of feed products on hand, and increased holdings of all the ingredients used in the custom blends dairy farmers increasingly demand, says Dean Weastell, sales consultant for J Swap Stockfoods.
Growing Demand for Custom Feed Blends
Weastell says the added capacity will mean better service for farmers, as wsell as more room for the team in the store to mix blends for delivery to farms.
"It enhances the fully integrated service we already offer, having our own trucks," he says.
"Customers often tell me how good it is just being able to make one phone call to get it sorted."
J Swap director Stephen Swap says the company has operated in the South Island for about 20 years now, investing in land and buildings over that time.
He says they are committed to the South Island market and will keep investing in the infrastructure needed to service farmers there.
With work now underway on the new store in Southland, between Bluff and Invercargill, expect to see more J Swap bulk, blower and auger trucks delivering to farms in the deep south over the coming months and years.
