A fouled vessel carrying PKE, ordered by MPI to leave Tauranga on March 6, has been allowed to return after divers cleaned it outside New Zealand waters.

The DL Marigold had dense fouling of barnacles and tube worms on its hull. MPI says it won’t hesitate to take a hard line on vessels with severe biofouling in the lead-up to the introduction of new biosecurity rules in May 2018. No action was taken against the PKE importer.
