Restrictions on fruits, vegetables movement in Mt Roskill
Legal controls on the movement of fruits and vegetables are now in place in Auckland’s Mt Roskill suburb, says Biosecurity New Zealand Commissioner North Mike Inglis.
The searches were conducted in both the North and South islands.
MPI manager compliance Investigations, Gary Orr, says the searches, carried out by warranted officers, related to potential breaches of legislation related to the M Bovis response.
“We recognise there is strong interest in the rural sector concerning how Mycoplasma bovis may have entered New Zealand,” says Orr.
“We will ensure the outcome of these investigations is communicated to farmers as soon as we are able to provide that information,” he says.
MPI is unable to provide substantive comment while investigations continue.
