It specialises in soil-engaging equipment and appears to use steel in all the right places in a product offering in several ranges from 1 to 8m and able to handle up to 500hp.
As a company Moreni, in its own words, deals only in “vertical rotor technology” – meaning power harrows only. But along the way it has introduced clever technological solutions to problems encountered during use, no doubt helped by working only with one concept.
Heavy duty headstocks attach to the front and rear of the transmission trays, spreading dynamic loads through wide spaced supports.
Beds are filled with grease to ensure immediate lubrication at start-up and allowing maintenance without needing to remove the top cover or draining.
The shafts are one-piece forged units that support the bearing assembly on the upper section and the blade holder below. The shaft assembly is easily removed for bearing replacement.
A unique feature of the harrow is the closer spacing of the rotors at 22.5cm (five rotors per metre) said to result in a finer tilth, and a lower power requirement per metre.
All NZ-spec machines are equipped with wide-spaced, triple ballrace sets for correct shaft orientation always, and dirt and debris are kept out of the workings of the machines by two double-labyrinth seals on each rotor shaft.
Rotors are timed on their shafts to ensure good overlap, and integral, circular stone-guards keep stones away from the underside of the trough.
A choice of cage, packer or crusher roller is available for consolidation and moisture retention and to meet specific job requirements, and the option of three-bladed rotors can be specified by specialist growers wanting ultra-fine seedbeds.
The machines are marketed directly to end-users through Ag and Civil Direct, a division of Waikato Tractors, Hamilton.
Says sales manager Ben Peters, “the direct-sell model we’re using ensures these machines are very reasonably priced”.
