A1 or A2?

Written by

The health benefits of A2 milk, if any, are set to become the central element of a legal battle in Australia between NZX-listed A2 Milk and Japanese-owned beverage giant Lion, in Sydney.

Lion has filed a counter-claim against A2 Milk in the Federal Court of Australia alleging A2 has engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct in its marketing of A2 products. The counterclaim follows a lawsuit filed against Lion by A2 in June over the Australia-based, ASX-listed company’s milk packaging, which included the words “naturally contains A2 protein”. A2 Milk’s product is marketed on the fact that it does not include A1 protein, whereas standard milk such as Lion’s has both A1 and A2 variants.
