Peters Targets Fonterra
OPINION: Get offside with New Zealand First leader Winston Peters at your own peril.
Global dairy giant Lactalis has integrated its Australian operations with the Mainland Dairy consumer business it acquired from Fonterra earlier this year.
The Mainland Dairy business includes ex-Fonterra Brands business in New Zealand with brands like Anchor Milk, Anchor Butter and Mainland Cheese.
Lactalis has appointed Fonterra’s former Oceania head, David Breckenridge as chief executive officer of Lactalis Australia.
The company says the appointment brings the Lactalis Australia and Lactalis-Mainland Dairy Australia teams together, marking an important milestone in the evolution of its Australian dairy operations.
Breckenridge will lead the combined business through its next phase of growth, building on the progress already achieved across both organisations and the strengths of its people, brands and customer relationships.
“Australia is an important market for Lactalis. The evolution of our leadership structure reflects our confidence in the future direction of our business,” says Alban Damour, general manager, Lactalis Asia Oceania Africa Zone said.
“Bringing our Australian businesses together under one leadership structure creates a stronger, more aligned business with the scale and capability to deliver long-term sustainable growth.
“David brings deep industry experience, strong relationships and a proven track record of leadership. He is exceptionally well placed to lead the business through the next phase of growth and integration,” he said.
Breckenridge says his appointment represents an opportunity to build on the strengths, capabilities and experience that exist across both businesses.
“We have exceptional brands, talented people and strong customer partnerships that provide a strong foundation for future growth,” he said.
“Significant progress has already been made. My focus will be on building on that momentum, unlocking new opportunities and creating value for customers, consumers, farmers and our people.
“I am excited to work with our teams across Australia as we build a stronger Lactalis business,” he said.
