Massey Ferguson Reveals Ethanol-Powered Tractor Engine Concept at Agrishow 2026
Given that current diesel pricing is a bit like a ride on a fairground roller coaster, it should be no surprise to hear that manufacturers are looking for alternatives.
Recently launched into the Australian and New Zealand markets, the new Massey Ferguson 7S Series tractors comprises six models offering maximum power outputs from 145hp to 210hp.
Displaying clear model designations, the MF 7S.145, MF 7S.155, MF 7S.165, MF 7S.180, MF 7S.190 and MF 7S.210 denote the maximum horsepower available. Meanwhile, up to an extra 30hp is available with Engine Power Management (EPM) – depending on the model.
Configured with a 2.88m wheelbase and sixcylinder, 6.6-litre engine, the manufacturer suggests the new tractors form the perfect bridge between the larger MF 8S Series, powered by 7.4 litre engines. Offered in a choice of Essential and Efficient specifications and, depending on model, features are designed to provide a range of comfort and output-enhancing features to boost productivity and performance in the field and on the road. For simplicity, Massey Ferguson continues to offer the range in Tier 2 emissions for straightforward, dependable operation and a low cost of ownership.

The MF 7S series includes a new armrest, multi-pad controller and enhanced connectivity. |
Transmission choices include the Dyna-VT ECO, offering seamless shifting and is available on all models. The Super Eco version of the Dyna- VT further improves efficiency by allowing the tractor to achieve 40km/h at just 1,450rpm. Dyna-VT now also features a new automatic mode, allowing operators to use the multipad lever or foot pedal to alter forward speed. This automatically sets the optimum engine speed according to the load and speed, delivering smoother operation and improving fuel efficiency.
Alternatively, for all models up to the MF 7S.180, there is the choice of the Dyna-6 Super Eco, 24 x 24 semi-powershift transmission. Proven over the last two decades, this configuration achieves a top speed of 40km/h at a low 1,500rpm to save fuel. Automatic Mode, standard on all Dyna-6 models, automatically shifts speeds relative to the engine load and speed, while the operator can also manually set the engine rpm at which change points are made.
The transmission also incorporates a brake-toneutral function. Meanwhile, for those working with specialised crops, a Super Creeper option delivers speeds down to 70m/hr at 1,400rpm.
Significant cab improvements, first seen on the MF 8S series, include a new armrest, multi-pad controller and enhanced connectivity. Thanks to a new air conditioning system, the cab is now up to 4C° cooler than previously. It also features new, high quality trim with a chrome steering wheel and black dashboard on Efficient versions. Air-suspended seats are standard, with the option to upgrade to a heated option, that also incorporates improved ventilation and a Dynamic Damping System.

Externally, an LED light design and bonnet lightbar takes care of work after dark. There is also the option to fit up to 16 LED work lights, and for loader operations there is the option of the Visio Roof, for better visibility.
Further comfort-based options include mechanical or active mechanical cab suspension, as well as a suspended front axle. A new, unique multifunction lever option provides easy control of a loader and front linkage, operation of the spool valves and directional changes.
With its 2.88m wheelbase and sculpted chassis, the MF 7S Series offers a turning radius of just 4.93m and an impressive 44.5t gross combination weight. Rear linkage lift capacities are 9,600kg with 4,000kg up front, while a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 14 tonnes make the tractors suitable for front and rear combinations.
