Special 'Farming in Drought' Farm Days will be held in Wellington (Sunday, March 17), Rotorua (Sunday, March 17) and Tauranga (Sunday, March 24). Free and open to the public, they are intended to show how farmers and farms cope with drought.

FEDERATED FARMERS is facing calls to do more for dairy farmers affected by interest rate swaps.

At the beginning of the year, Rural News judged Federated Farmers of New Zealand (FFNZ) as the most media-friendly organisation during 2012 – by a country mile. This is great recognition for a tremendous effort. When one considers the size of the organisation in comparison with some of New Zealand’s agricultural companies, the output is remarkable.  And it hasn’t just been reactionary statements, it has also been think-pieces. 

With over two million square metres of floorcoverings needed for the Christchurch rebuild, Federated Farmers believes strong wool should be given a leading role.

Any increase in farmer confidence comes from the dairy sector and even that is off a low base. That is one of Federated Farmers' conclusions from its 2012/13 Mid-Season Farm Confidence Survey.
