Xmas fun

Written by

FONTERRA AND dairying copped some light-hearted flak in a South Canterbury town’s Christmas parade, late last year.

“Sheep shagging’s a thing of the past. Dirty dairying’s a thing of the future,” quipped one float in the decidedly non-pc Pleasant Point parade. “Even the pipes are dirty!” revealed the sign on the rear of the truck as it trundled past the packed pavements. Apparently the float was the result of a shearer’s and a dairy farmer’s dry wit and artistry. The town’s annual procession always features some politically poignant piss-takes.
