Police called out to meet, dine

USUALLY one would expect fireworks at a farmer co-op annual meeting. But with the forecast payout at an all-time high and the company doing well, Fonterra’s annual meeting in Invercargill last month was a mere formality.

 

So the presence of several police cars and police officers raised a few eyebrows. Fonterra soon assured journalists the cops were invited, with other community workers, to attend the event, meet local farmers and Fonterra bosses and enjoy a meal courtesy of the world’s largest dairy exporter.
