Consuming around six years and more than 35,000 hours of physical and digital testing, the new sixth-generation Valtra T Series is being described as the most significant new release in the company’s history.

Indeed, 99% of the tractor is new; the remaining 1% is said to be the cab frame.

The six-model range was developed to meet end-user feedback for more performance, lower operating costs, better connectivity, customisation options and a larger operating screen.

Already one of the most popular tractors to leave the Suolahti assembly line, the T Series is said to account for around half of the new Valtra tractors produced this year to date. With a 53% share of the Finnish home market, the Valtra T claims third spot with a 25% share of the approximately 22,000 new 170 to 245hp tractors sold in Europe each year.

Motive force is delivered by the AGCO Power Core 75, 7.5-litre, six-cylinder engine, delivering up to 245hp and 1,184Nm (18% increase on the T5) of torque in the top T236 model at 1,000rpm.

As well as offering strong pulling power at low engine speeds, the AGCO Core 75 helps to reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% compared to the previous 74HD block.

Described as a six-cylinder tractor that handles like a compact four-cylinder format, the new six-model range comprises the T146 (170hp), T156 (185hp), T176 (200hp), T196 (215hp), T216 (230hp) and T236 (245hp).

Smart Power Management, which automatically optimises engine and transmission behaviour, helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% compared to the previous engine.

Transmission options are AGCO’s ML180 CVT or a new T760 10-stage powershift – the latter tipped to be popular for heavy draft work, while the CVT will appeal to users spending a lot of time on the road.

Key specifications include a 9.5 tonne lift capacity and a Gross Vehicle Weight of 14 tonnes throughout the range, alongside a 2.95 m wheelbase and 575mm ground clearance.

Key features in the cabin include automatic air conditioning, air suspended cab, heated mirrors, interior lighting package, and electrically controlled seat with memory settings and massage function. There is also a leather passenger seat, floor mat, gooseneck microphone, phone holder with wireless charger, and a corner table or a 12-litre thermal cool box.

The package also contains Valtra’s full stack of smart farming technologies, such as Valtra Guide, Auto U-Pilot, SmartTurn, and precision farming package, including section control and variable rate control capabilities.

new tractors made in Suolahti are given some form of Unlimited treatment - the factory customisation process. The Ultra, a top-end package of factory and Unlimited options, is new for the T6, with Valtra confidently expecting 20% of them to go out with the Ultra package.

For those needing to start their day with something black and strong, Unlimited now offers an in-cab coffee maker, but whether they will be able to stomach the €600 price tag remains to be seen.

While the T5 remains in production until Christmas, they have been joined on the line by the first T6 CVT variants, with the first powershift variants expected on the assembly line in the middle of 2027.

The European launch of the new range will be at next month’s Italian EIMA show, with timings for the ANZ release still to be confirmed.
