Footwear that lasts

Lastrite offers top-end leather footwear. Lastrite offers top-end leather footwear.

Tough times are ahead for many businesses, but Lastrite Footwear is match fit, having already survived the flood of cheap imports unleashed when import tariffs were dropped.

Over its 68 years, the business has endured highs and lows. In 1974, Neville Brunker came into the company started by his father John.

“It’s been a long haul,” says Neville, who continues his craft in a Whangarei workshop.

The business is focussed these days on a limited range of high quality boots. Before cheap imports changed the retail landscape, Lastrite supplied footwear to a number of large NZ businesses, including steel-cap boots to NZ Window Glass, golf shoes to pro shops throughout NZ, spiked and steel toe boots by the thousands to the forestry industry and jandals to surf shops.

Lastrite also got into high end suede dress boots and shoes that were exported. Dress boots are still part of the range, alongside its durable work boots.

The range includes top-end leather Farmers, Hunting, Yardmate, Tussock, Higleg Logger, a hi-leg Hunter, Dress Boots and much more. See more at
