Synlait chief executive Leon Clement still hopes to open the company’s new Pokeno milk powder plant on time.
The company recently got a whole lot of soft and positive media coverage in what a mate of your canine crusader aptly described as ‘virtual-signalling wank’ over serving foreign-owned, GMO, fake-meat burgers on flights from the US. Your old mate agrees with the chief executive at Beef + Lamb NZ, Rod Slater, who challenged Air New Zealand to help promote local meat to the same extent as the US-made fake product. And how did Air NZ get all the good publicity? It flew (business class) a bunch of journalists to the fake-meat headquarters in the US. Imagine the good publicity for NZ and our world-leading red meat industry if the PR gurus at Air NZ paid for a whole lot of journalists to visit NZ farms and see the best, most sustainably-produced beef and lamb on the planet.
