The Aussie government proposes new offences and penalties for failure to report visual recordings of malicious animal cruelty or for interfering with the conduct of lawful animal enterprises, such as livestock facilities. Law proponent Senator Brockman from Western Australia rightly points out, it is ironic that people who hold themselves up as paragons of virtue in defending animal rights are happy to sit on footage of animal cruelty for months and months and months, developing media stories and not giving the footage and images to the relevant authorities to act on.
