Finnish dairy company Valio is on a mission to reduce milk’s carbon footprint to zero by 2035.
It is doing this by producing biogas from effluent on dairy farms.
Currently the processor has 20 biogas plants on farms.
Energy produced is mostly used to make electricity and heat for the farms.
However, soon vehicles can fill up their tanks with biogas produced from effluent.
The company says biogas will have an important role in reducing transport emissions because it will be one way to replace diesel and petrol fossil fuels.
