Open Country opens butter plant
When American retail giant Cosco came to audit Open Country Dairy’s new butter plant at the Waharoa site and give the green light to supply their American stores, they allowed themselves a week for the exercise.
The Fonterra Shareholders Council is welcoming the appointment of John Wilson as the chairman elect of the Fonterra board.
Shareholders Council chairman Ian Brown congratulated Wilson on his appointment.
"As a former Shareholders Council chair, John is in a unique position to understand farmers' interests and concerns and balance these against the needs of the business.
"The Council will continue to work towards solidifying a respectful working relationship with John and the board," he says.
Wilson takes over from Henry van der Heyden who steps down at the co-op's annual meeting in December.
The sale of Fonterra’s global consumer and related businesses is expected to be completed within two months.
