By all accounts, the appointment of Tararua farmer Mel Poulton as the new SATE is seen as a good move.
However, as reported earlier by the Hound, Poulton’s appointment by ‘good mates’ Trade Minister David Parker and Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor has left one of the latter’s other ‘good mates’ rather disappointed and dejected.
Your canine crusader has been told, by sources close to the process, that all the boot licking and sycophancy of O’Connor by his favoured candidate and mate came to nought due to the bootlicker being male, pale and stale.
Unfortunately, he did not fit with the Government’s diversity policy so the job went to Poulton.
