Wider cut given

Written by

A REAR-MOUNTED mower uses a new middle attachment to cut even wider, says the New Zealand importer.

CB Norwood Distributors says despite the large working width (4.5m) of its Fella mower, the machine’s centre mowing unit – attached right at the rig’s centre of gravity – enables it to adapt nicely to ground contours. The key to this is the maker’s TurboLift system that relieves the hydro-pneumatic load on the cutter bar.

This system uses an innovative control device to enable adjustments to the contact pressure to be made quickly, simply and without tools. In addition, the system is automatically calibrated at every headland and, as a result, any undesired change to ground contact pressure is immediately corrected.

The floating cut suits the cutter bar well to a huge range of operating conditions, CB Norwood says.

“The easy-to-use reduction of the contact pressure when passing through damp or wet areas prevents the forage from becoming contaminated and ensures the sward remains undamaged. In addition, the frame structure and the skids carry less load, meaning less wear and drag resistance reducing tractor fuel consumption.”

While not all sibling rivalries come to blows, one headline event at the recent New Zealand Rural Games held in Palmerston North certainly did, when reigning World Champion Jack Jordan was denied the opportunity of defending his world title in Europe later this year, after being beaten by his big brother’s superior axle blows, at the Stihl Timbersports Nationals.
