Professor Mark Post et al at Maastricht University, Holland, took five years developing the burger. The mad professor hopes lab-made meat could eventually help feed the world and fight climate change, though that goal is ten years away at best. No matter, tasters of the fake meat say the 140g patty is “close to meat” in flavour and texture, but not as juicy. (It cost at least $330,000 to develop, with backing from Google co-founder Sergey Brin.)
