As we move into the second half of 2026, the Tractor and Machinery Association (TAMA) reports that Year-to-Date figures ending June 30 saw new tractor deliveries hitting 1,386 units or 10.7% ahead of the same period in 2025.
The second quarter has been one of building momentum over each month, likely driven by the increased confidence in all sectors, with substantial price gains across the board.
June tractor deliveries of 274 units saw an 18.6% increase ahead of last year's 231 tractors, with distributors reporting a consistency of orders and deliveries in new tractors and machinery, with some leads resulting in discussions over an extended timescale.
The second quarter result was reported as solid across both Islands, with the North Island 7.5% ahead and the South Island a strong 16.6% ahead of last year.
Interestingly, in the North Island, tractor sales were dominated by the 100-150hp and 150-200hp categories, each up by 33.8% and 60% over 2025, while in the South Island, the 40-100hp category climbed by 250% and 100-150hp sector rose by 35.9% ahead of last year.
A rolling 12-month report sees total deliveries sitting at 3222 vs 2928 units over the same period in 2025.
TAMA represents New Zealand's commercial tractor and machinery industry, reporting retail delivery statistics from around 97% of the tractor market and 80% of the machinery sector, supplied by data from its members.
