Two-legged pests

Written by  The Hound

OPINION: Federated Farmers has launched a new campaign, swapping ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ for ‘The Twelve Pests of Christmas’ to highlight the most troublesome farm pests – a serious issue that needs some urgent attention from the Beehive.

“Three wild deer, two wall-a-bies, and bush pigs rooting in the fi-eld.” Etc.

It’s a good gimmick, and a serious issue with pests spreading disease, destroying native forests, killing native birds and pasture.

Feds have booked a large billboard outside the Beehive and will feature a new pest each day in the lead-up to Christmas.

This mutt could add a few pests to that list who also need “urgent attention”, most of them being the two-legged variety!

Regional council officials, greenies, animal rights activists, climate activists, local MPs during elections, reporters, striking union members, woke school principals… the list goes on and on!

OPINION: Staying on Federated Farmers, this week's annual general meeting in Auckland is shaping up to be an interesting one.
