Deafening silence

Written by  The Hound

Your old mate reckons it’s incredible how people’s attitudes have changed since the COVID-19 crisis hit us.

It was only a few weeks ago that the Government announced it was going to spend $12 million in helping out the many parts of the country ravaged by drought.

Despite the vast majority of this funding being spent on ensuring drinking water is available to regional towns in drought-hit parts of the country, the ill-informed, ignorant, anti-farming keyboard warriors were out in force claiming farmers were getting handouts and having the taxpayer bail them out.

However, when the Government announced a $12.1 billion package to soften the economic blow of COVID-19 – which, by the way, most farmers will not qualify for – these same keyboard warriors were deathly quiet.

The Hound suggests they will have been far too busy filling out the necessary forms in an effort to get their taxpayer handouts!
