The Hound understands that former Agriculture Minister and Speaker of the House David Carter is due to stand down at next year’s election.
In the past year or so, Carter has been casting about in the rural sector for roles and has even put his name up for directorships of rural co-ops RuralCo and Farmlands.
However, shareholders in both co-ops have not voted the MP on to their boards of directors.
Perhaps Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor could help his former political rival and high school alumni and give Carter a role on one of the numerous working groups that he and his Government are so keen on setting up.
