Out of touch

Written by

OPINION: This old mutt reckons many of the highly paid executives in farm industry-good organisations are so removed from the day-to-day reality of farming we need not be surprised at the disconnect between them and their levy paying employers (the farmers).

These executives seem obsessed with lecturing farmers, via Twitter, about how easily they can reduce their on farm carbon footprint – all from the comfort of their Remuera mansions. It’s different down on the farm trying to put this city-bound theory into profitable practice.

Meanwhile, the Hound suspects that all these high paid executives will eventually move on to roles elsewhere. And the farmers these executives are supposed to be representing will be left with the decisions and policies they are foolishly advocating.
