Disgusting dairying deserves death

Written by

Yorkshire's Australian cricket coach Jason Gillespie (41) is risking the wrath of his county club’s sponsors by saying the “disgusting" dairy industry should be shut down.

Yorkshire is sponsored by Wensleydale Creamery, but this isn't deterring Gillespie -- a vegan -- from coming out punching against the business. The pace bowler, who has led Yorkshire to two county championship titles, stood by his opinions in an interview with the Yorkshire Post. Asked about conflict with the company whose logo appears on Yorkshire’s shirts, he said, “Yes, they're a sponsor, but it doesn’t mean I agree with what they do. “It’s cruel 'species-ism' at its very worst and I don’t want to be part of it. I hope one day the dairy industry can be shut down. It’s disgusting and wrong on many levels."
