Intelligent solar battery charger

Projecta solar battery charger. Projecta solar battery charger.

Faster charging of 12V auxiliary batteries for recreational and boating use, and in cars and light commercials, is among the features of the new Intelli-Charge IDC45 model from Projecta.

It gives safe, reliable and faster charging and the versatility to charge 12V secondary/auxiliary deep cycle batteries on the go.

Like the IDC25 before it, the IDC45 can charge simultaneously from solar and alternator inputs and can automatically shift between either input without the need for manual switching.

The unit can be used as an MPPT (maximum power point tracking) solar controller with dual-charging modes for compatibility with conventional and ‘smart’ alternators, often found in modern vehicles.

Over/under voltage monitoring automatically shuts the unit down if an issue is detected, and an over-temperature protection function automatically adjusts output based on battery temperature, both functions reducing the risk of damage to the battery. Anti-sparking and reverse connection protection systems are useful when charging in confined spaces or near flammable liquids.

The charger supports multi-chemistry batteries including GEL, AGM, WET and Calcium, with push-button selection, and periodic equalization capability removes acid stratification from calcium batteries, improving their operating life and performance.

The charger shock-, vibration- and dust-proof to IP67 rating.
